WHOISMEMBER — COMMUNITY SUITE
Role Editor
Fine-tune every role for your community — capability by capability.
The Role Details
- Role data: the role key is read-only, the display name is editable, and a capability counter shows how many caps are active.
- Capability checklist: every capability registered across all roles, sorted alphabetically; check or uncheck freely.
- Clean save: on save, all existing capabilities are removed first and the selected ones added fresh — for an exact, predictable state.
️ Role Header Card
- Large ️ icon, role display name as heading, "Rollen-Editor" badge
- Save Configuration button — submits all changes (display name + capabilities) in one action
- Success confirmation banner after saving
- ← Back button and Role Key shown in the navigation bar above the card
Left Column — Role Data
- Role Key — read-only; the internal system ID cannot be changed
- Display Name — editable text field; enter any label for this role
- Capability Count — shows how many capabilities are currently active for this role
- Info note explaining that only the display name is changeable, not the system key
⚙️ Right Column — Capabilities
A scrollable checklist of every capability registered across all roles in the system:
- All capabilities from all roles are collected and sorted alphabetically
- Checkboxes show which capabilities are currently active for this role
- Check or uncheck any capability freely — changes take effect when saved
- On save: all existing capabilities are removed first, then the selected ones are added fresh — ensuring a clean, exact state
FAQ
Can I delete the built-in roles?
The five WordPress system roles are protected and can't be deleted by accident. Custom roles you created yourself can be removed.
How do I duplicate a role?
Use the duplicate action: Role Editor creates a new role including all capabilities of the source role, labelled as a "Kopie".
Where do I embed the editor?
With the shortcode; the per-role details appear on the role-details page.
Does it require WhoIsMember?
Yes. Role Editor is an add-on and requires the active core plugin WhoIsMember (Pro).
Roles under control — without the risk
Activate the add-on — rename, duplicate and clean up roles while the system roles stay protected.
